## Training Code of Conduct

Students and instructors share responsibility for making each IIP course a productive, respectful and professional place to learn. This Code applies to all course activities, including classroom sessions, group exercises, breaks and any online discussion connected with the course. It draws on the IIP Code of Conduct, which continues to apply in full.

### Our shared commitments

##### Respect

- Treat each other with courtesy and give every voice a fair hearing.
- Welcome the different agencies, backgrounds and experience in the group, including the perspectives of Australia’s First Peoples.
- Test ideas openly and keep the discussion focused on the analysis.
- Be honest in your work and acknowledge the contributions of others.
- Keep discussion at a level suitable for an unclassified learning environment.
- Follow the Chatham House Rule, so insights from the course can be used freely while speakers and their organisations stay unattributed.
- Contribute fully to group exercises and share the workload fairly.
- Listen actively and build on each other’s ideas.
- Arrive on time and prepared for each session.
- Engage with every activity, including those that feel unfamiliar at first.
- Ask questions whenever something is unclear.
- Offer feedback constructively and take on feedback as a chance to improve.
- Use course materials for my own professional development and respect IIP’s ownership of them.
- Create an inclusive space where everyone feels able to contribute.
- Set out the learning outcomes and assessment requirements at the start of the course.
- Give timely feedback that helps each student improve.
- Model the analytic standards and professional behaviour the course teaches.
- Make time to discuss concerns and respond to them fairly.

##### Integrity

- Be honest in your work and acknowledge the contributions of others.
- Keep discussion at a level suitable for an unclassified learning environment.
- Follow the [*Chatham House Rule*](https://www.chathamhouse.org/about-us/chatham-house-rule), so insights from the course can be used freely while speakers and their organisations stay unattributed.

##### Collaboration

- Contribute fully to group exercises and share the workload fairly.
- Listen actively and build on each other’s ideas.

### As a student, I will

- Arrive on time and prepared for each session.
- Engage with every activity, including those that feel unfamiliar at first.
- Ask questions whenever something is unclear.
- Offer feedback constructively and take on feedback as a chance to improve.
- Use course materials for my own professional development and respect IIP’s ownership of them.

### As an instructor, I will

- Create an inclusive space where everyone feels able to contribute.
- Set out the learning outcomes and assessment requirements at the start of the course.
- Give timely feedback that helps each student improve.
- Model the analytic standards and professional behaviour the course teaches.
- Make time to discuss concerns and respond to them fairly.

### Raising a concern

If anything during the course concerns you, speak with your instructor or contact the IIP Chief Operating Officer. Concerns are handled confidentially under IIP's Complaints and Feedback Policy, and anyone who raises a concern in good faith will be supported. A copy of the policy will be provided upon request.

By taking part in the course, students and instructors agree to work in line with this Code.
